Structural Testing:

ISO 668:2013(E): This lnternational Standard establishes a classification of series 1 freight containers based on external dimensions, and specifies the associated ratings and, where appropriate, the minimum internal and door opening dimensions for certain types of containers. These containers are intended for intercontinental traffic. This International Standard summarizes the external and some of the internal dimensions of series 1 containers. The dimensions of each type of container are defined in the appropriate part of ISO 1496, which is the authoritative document for internal container dimensions. Depending on the individual structure, containers are rated for 52,000 – 67,000 lbs of load in Grade A conditions (including the weight of the container).

The conditions of the containers in these tests were Grade B with moderate rust and degradation from overseas transport. One unit was coated with the Theis Tecton materials and the other unit was reinforced on the roof by strategically placing specially engineered timbers and then applying the Theis Tecton over the top. The load was applied to the roof of the sprayed unit and failure occurred at 132,798lbs. Failure was deemed when the doors unlatched and opened. The unit ,which was reinforced and sprayed, did not reach a point of failure but testing stopped at 167,000lbs due to the testing equipment failing under the weight of the test.

Feature/Function: Benefit:

Prevents Rust, Corrosion, Electrolysis & Ionization. Water Resistant. Transport: Significantly increased lifespan for use in shipping overseas. Less turnover in container and therefore reduction in costs.Storage/Habitation: Better protects contents from water and will increase the longevity of unit. Less Cost.
Increases Structural Integrity &Replaces Need for Bonding and Welding Transport: Better protects contents from extreme stress and damage that occurs during transport.Storage: Container will last longer. Roof area can become additional storage area for materials within approved weight limitations.Habitation: Can be used to bond and weld for structural fastening. Can be formulated to be buried underground to approved depth based on weight. Allows roofing to be used for functional space such as deck or hot tub with water proofing characteristic.
Can be applied to new or used unit Transport/Storage/Habitation: Restores functionality of old units to better than new conditions. Protects the investment of a new unit. Repairs structural problems and restores appearance.
Chemical, Scratch & Abrasion Resistant Transport/Storage/Habitation: Protects unit from industry standards of wear and tear to ensure units last longer and significantly exceeds current performance standards.

General Introduction:

Theis Tecton materials are a proven technology utilized for over ten years in the harshest environments in the planet. It has solved problems in various industries where previously there were no solutions. These industries include but are not limited to Aerospace, Engineering, Oil & Gas, Maritime, Construction, Body Armor, Personal Protection, High Performance Racing and Military Vehicles and Technology. Finding its infancy as an anti-ballistics solution it has since been pressed to merciless conditions without finding its limitations.

Theis Tecton materials are a 100% solids elastomeric two-component spray applied aromatic formula. Theis Tecton 7200 (TT7200) is the entry-level material within the series of Theis Industries product offerings.  This information sheet provides the testing as it relates to the most basic performing capacity of the TT7200. Please note: as previously stated, the Theis Tecton product line has yet to encounter a need that cannot be solved. These solutions can be achieved with more advanced materials offered in the Theis Tecton series, by formulating a specific blend or designing a system with Theis materials to achieve the desired result. Theis Tecton materials provide the following characteristics (this list is not all-inclusive):

  • Protection
  • Waterproofing
  • Chemical Resistant
